Being Responsible

Being Responsible

We believe that a responsible approach to developing relationships between companies and the communities we serve is a vital part of delivering business success.

We believe that how we interact with the world in which we operate determines our place within it. We have an absolute commitment to CSR and are continuously striving to ensure that we’re doing our part, and more, in the workplace, the wider community and the environment.

Commitment to suppliers

We are committed to developing and maintaining effective professional relationships with our suppliers as we strongly believe it helps us provide high quality services to our clients.

Since 2011, Penna have been an Approved Signatory of the Prompt Payment Code. Signatories to the Code commit to paying their suppliers within clearly defined terms, and commit also to ensuring there is a proper process for dealing with any issues that may arise. This means that suppliers can build stronger relationships with their customers, safe in the knowledge that they will be paid, and confident that they are working with a business that values the service they deliver.

Developing talent for a better future

As well as working with our clients to enhance the capabilities and working lives of thousands of people globally, we also work with Career Ready to do the same for 16 to 19 years olds, often from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Since 2007, Penna have voluntarily provided mentoring support to the students throughout the academic year as well as running workshops to assist with subjects such as CV writing and interview preparation. Our contribution helps broaden the choices students have about their working life and helps equip them with the confidence and capability to make the first step in their chosen career path.

Environmental policy

Penna recognises that everything we do has an environmental affect, be it positive or negative. We are committed to ensuring that we carry out our business in an environmentally sound and sustainable manner. We meet the requirements of the Environmental Management System ISO14001, which ensures we monitor our impact on the environment and apply initiatives to reduce any adverse effects. In support of this we have an Environmental Purchasing Policy which ensures we fully consider environmental issues throughout any procurement process.

Supporting charities

We recognise the efforts individuals make to raise funds for charities close to their heart by encouraging each regional office to nominate a charity they wish to support for the year. We also donate £50 to those that embark on a challenge to raise funds or allow time out of the office for fundraising activities.

Charities currently supported include; Alzheimer’s Society, Alan Warner’s Hospice, Crohn's and Colitis UK, Crossroads, Mind, Omwabini, The SMA Trust and McMillan Cancer. As well as employee-driven fundraising events, we also design an e-Christmas card every year and donate the money that would have been spent on cards to our selected charities selected by our employees.
