James Hunt | Managing Director, Penna Executive Recruitment and Interim

James started at Penna in July 2003, with the initial brief of expanding our Public Sector practice within the Interim Division, specialising within Central Government and the Health sector. He then became Managing Director of the Interim division in 2006, and three years later took over as Managing Director of a newly-formed combined team covering Executive Recruitment and Interim.

Prior to working at Penna, James spent six years in the army before joining Harvey Nash in 1993. Here he spent nine years in the IT Contracts Division, managing a team of consultants and winning major Preferred Supplier Relationships with clients such as Computacenter, Railtrack, MCI Worldcom, Ericsson and Motorola. In 2002 he joined Drax Group to set up a Public Sector practice within their Executive Search and Interim Division. He developed relationships with a range of clients, particularly the NHS, and conducted a variety of Search and Interim assignments across a host of key senior positions.

Charlotte Emmerson | Consultant, Public Sector, Penna Interim Executive

Charlotte joined Penna in January 2009 having been headhunted from Capita Interim Management where she recruited interim managers into Central Government and the Third Sector. She has successfully recruited across a range of disciplines throughout her career, including niche policy areas and major programmes for change, transformation and efficiency. She works alongside Charles to meet the increasing demand for executive level interim managers within the wider Public Sector, such as Central Government, higher and further education, charities and the police. Charlotte’s consultative approach and sector knowledge has enabled her to exceed client and candidate’s expectations and grow business for Penna.

David Weir | Sector Head, Local Government, Penna Interim Executive

In 2006 David joined our Interim Executive team to lead the Local Government Practice. After graduating, David spent two years living and working in Japan for a Local Board of Education in Nagano Prefecture. On returning to the UK, he joined public sector executive recruiter, Lawson Bishop, where he became a Senior Consultant and spent three successful years developing their offering in Central Government. Since joining Penna, David has delivered assignments at Interim Chief Executive, Director and Assistant Director level in County, Unitary, Metropolitan and District Councils across the UK. He’s also helped us build our strong reputation for recruiting interim executives to the top three tiers of management within Local Authorities nationally.

Harriet Daniels | Consultant, Technology, Media and Telecommunications

Harriet joined Penna in 2010 to support the interim management practice across Telecoms, Media and Technology. Harriet has five years of recruitment experience across both interim and permanent markets, with a particular focus on finance professionals into growth businesses and new ventures. Harriet is experienced in recruiting for a variety of sectors and geographical locations.

Janine Jones | Senior Consultant, NHS & Healthcare, Penna Interim Executive

Janine joined Penna in May 2010, having spent four years at Capita Interim Management recruiting professionals for the health sector. Her main strength is her ability to understand her clients’ requirements and match them to the specific skills of her extensive candidate network. She strives to offer support and professional advice to clients and candidates - ensuring that the relationship continues to develop at all times during and after a contract. Having worked with hospitals, NHS Trusts and healthcare agencies throughout the country, Janine has built up a comprehensive understanding of the Health Sector and its complex and ever-changing needs. This has allowed her to successfully fill key assignments ranging from Clinical Nurse Leads and Commissioning Managers to Directors of Strategic Commissioning and Chief Operating Officers.

Martin Smith | Consultant, Local Government, Penna Interim Executive

A key consultant on our Public Sector Interim Management team, Martin joined us in October 2008. Initially focusing on housing and social care, but now working across a wide range of functions, he delivers interim management solutions to Local Government & RSL clients throughout the country. For the last three years, Martin has built up an extensive network of senior candidates, forged strong client relationships and recruited to numerous interim roles, including Director and Chief Executive appointments. Prior to joining our team, he worked for Morgan Hunt where he set up the Interim Executive Management desk.

Richard Hind | Consultant, Penna Interim Executive

Richard joined Penna in March 2009 having spend three years with Interim Performers, where he established and grew their Northern service offering. He focused on the placement of Interim Managers across the Retail, FMCG, Engineering and Business Outsourcing sectors, specialising in HR, Change and Transformation projects. Today, he supports the continued expansion of the Penna Executive Interim Service Line out of our Manchester office. Prior to his career in Interim Management, Richard delivered within HR Operations roles, in-house recruitment, and HR change projects for seven years across the IT Services, Retail and Utility Sectors. More specifically he focused on supporting business acquisition, corporate restructuring, service outsourcing and employee engagement projects.

Simon Drake | Sector Head, Transport, Property, Construction and Consulting, Penna Interim Executive

Simon has worked in the executive resourcing and consulting sectors for over 15 years, working with Boards of FTSE 100 companies through to SMEs. He’s also managed assignments ranging from CEO level to Project Specialists. His executive interim management experience is backed by management experience at strategic level (LSE-listed consultancy), with a background in project management and consulting. Tracy Shuff | Manager, Penna Interim Executive

Tracy joined Penna Interim in November 2008 to head the northern operations, and is based in the Manchester office. She has worked in the North for over 20 years, 14 of which have been in the Interim Management market-place. She has extensive business knowledge at board level of a variety of sectors including major blue-chip companies, SMEs, not-for-profit organisations and the public sector. She has an in-depth understanding of the local interim market and the issues facing organisations in the area.

Charles Wilson | Sector Head, Public Sector, Penna Interim Executive

Charles joined Penna Interim in March 2006, having previously worked with us as part of our public sector recruitment team. His background and expertise is in Public Sector Resourcing and this specialism has grown in the Penna Interim team. Charles has built a very credible profile as a trusted provider of high-calibre candidates at a senior level to public sector clients. He joined us from Capita, where he spent five years recruiting for, and partnering with, many central government departments, executive agencies and NDPBs. Key clients have included HM Revenue and Customs, the Home Office, the DWP, the DH, BIS, Technology Strategy Board and the Equality and Human Rights Commission. He builds long-lasting business relationships with clients in order to provide the most suitable, best-qualified candidates. Charles has a BSc (Hons) in Resource Management.
