Thank you to our interims: Penna's placement in the 2021 IIM Survey

We’re incredibly proud of our interim community here at Penna. It’s fair to say that many in our network have been at the heart of the response to COVID-19, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of communities and providing support across the public & private sectors. From operations and transformation, social care to public health, finance, HR and comms and place making and shaping.

That’s why every member of our team is humbled by the results of the 2021 Institute of Interim Management Survey. Our interims have taken time out of taxing schedules to share their insights on Penna, our consultants and the market. We’re grateful for all the reflections shared; this feedback helps us learn, develop and support our interims even more effectively.

Particularly grateful is our Penna Executive Interim Director Toni Hall, who is the 2nd Place Consultant of the Year for 2021. On her placement, she said:

“I’m humbled that my wonderful interim community – who do so much for us all in local government and the public sector – have taken the time to vote for me this year. I am inspired by our interims and clients on a daily basis, and it’s been humbling to offer them support through such a tough year. I’m also thankful for the incredible team I have around me at Penna interim who are a joy to work with.”

The Penna Interim team are also celebrating the votes of their interims today – as we remain a Platinum Service Provider at number 8 in the overall consultancy rankings. Our Director Charles Wilson said:

“It’s been 15 months like no other and the interim community have stepped up and supported organisations across the public and private sectors when, at times, they seemed like a forgotten part of the business community. We have all adapted to new ways of working, embraced virtual processes but have done absolutely all we can to maintain the human element in what we do. Very proud of the team for their efforts and resilience over this past year or so – well done!”

In 2021 we listened to market feedback about how tough times have been for interims. We’ve tried to ease the load where we can. From mental health workshops, new to interim support sessions, diversity and allyship listening groups, Christmas fizz-filled Zoom calls, to always being a phone call away. We are passionate about providing a professional, kind and human service.

Into 2022 we’ll be continuing our mental health and resilience sessions. We’re also committed to identifying and placing a more diverse pool of interims and working to encourage transferable skills into the public sector from other sectors. We will continue to add value to our private sector clients and our consultants will be providing ever-more coaching, interview preparation and support with IR35.

This feedback from our market is invaluable and helps us shape how we serve our interims. As Penna’s Managing Director Julie Towers notes:

“The IIM play a vital role in supporting Interim Managers in their work and we are proud to be recognised as a platinum provider. I’m also incredibly pleased to see Toni Hall’s commitment to clients and interim managers recognised, placing in the top two consultants for 2021. Feedback is the breakfast of champions as far as I’m concerned, so our interim’s reflections provide the fuel from which we will grow as a company and as an industry. Long may it continue. Thank you to the IIM for their sterling work in developing and running the survey; and a HUGE thank you to the interim managers that took the time to complete it and share their experience. We are passionate about sharing our experience at Penna and we look forward to continuing to do so for our new and experienced interim managers. Urgent help and experience when needed has the potential to change lives. In 2020 we saw that first-hand and were privileged to provide support where needed, both pro bono and commercially. Huge respect to our interim managers who did what they could to support the public sector and their communities. We are proud to work with and for you.”

We look forward to seeing the full results on the 16th of July. Thank you, once again, to everyone who took part in this years’ IIM survey.
