About the Role
This is a career graded role, with opportunity to progress from Planning Officer to Senior Planning Officer. Applicants interested in all levels of the role are encouraged to apply.
As a Planning Officer, you will:
- Assess and manage planning applications from pre-application to condition discharge and post-decision matters.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for Planning Committee and delegated decisions.
- Provide professional advice to applicants, agents, and stakeholders.
- Contribute to Local Plan development and policy work.
- Support enforcement investigations and represent the Council at appeals.
What We’re Looking For
- A keen interest in planning/built environment and a commitment to learning.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and deliver excellent customer service.
- A proactive, positive attitude with flexibility and resilience.
- Degree in planning or related discipline (or working towards) and eligibility for RTPI membership.
